'Donation Gear'

We have had a bit of a clear out in our equipment room and found some touring gear and bike bits that we no longer need. We thought they were really too good to just throw out and end up in landfill. We therefore thought someone might find a use for them and at the same time we could raise a bit of money for charity.

All we are asking is that you pay the postage and that if you find the gear useful, make a donation to our chosen charity to what ever value you think it is worth to you.

Our chosen charity is Mencap which is the UK's leading learning disability charity working with people with a learning disability, their families and carers.

If any of the gear below is of use to you, send us an e-mail toand we will get back in touch to sort out the postage.

Alesa X-plorer rimmed 700c - 622 wheels

seat postsThese are a pair of Alesa X-plorer alloy rimmed 700c - 622 36 spoke front and rear wheels. The front hub is a Shimano STX-RC with quick release and the rear hub is a Shimano STX-RC Parallax with a Shimano HG CS-M580 cassette and quick release.

These wheels have done about @ 12,000 miles each and do have some brake rim wear. The stickers mention a 'Safety line' so I assume they must have some sort of wear indicator of which there is no appearance. With the mileage there is some wear on the hubs and they will probably need new cones and ball bearings and the wheels need a little truing up.

I'm sure there is still some good life left in these wheels and they might be useful to someone making up a hack bike or someone wanting to replacement wheels on a commuter.
